Drayage truck owners may have an early Christmas present on the way, according to a recent advisory notice from CARB. CARB is granting them a four-month extension on retrofits or replacements for drayage trucks receiving public funding or awaiting private financing. During this time period, these trucks can continue to operate at the ports and rail yards. The extended deadline for this subset is now April 30, 2010.
Those waiting for public funding, and who qualify for Option A of the extension, will receive a sticker by December 31, 2009 to place on their trucks. The Drayage Truck Registry will also be updated with the appropriate extension information.
Those that qualify must meet the following conditions:
1.) Be a part of the Air Quality Incentive Fund administered by the Prop 1B program or a related program.
2.) Be covered by an incentive program contract dated and in process by December 11, 2009 or have a letter from the district or port indicating the truck has qualified for funding. They must also have submitted a valid purchase order to local agency by December 11, 2009.
If you are waiting for private funding, and want to be eligible for Option B of the extension, you will need to:
1.) Register your truck in the Drayage Truck Registry.
2.) Follow the link to our website and complete the cover sheet.
3.) Provide a copy of a purchase order or other acceptable documentation.
